Police probing knife raids on corner shops

POLICE are investigating two alleged knifepoint robberies on corner shops just 90 minutes apart in the same area of Swansea.

The first incident happened at North Hill Stores in Berwick Terrace, Mount Pleasant, at around 12.50pm on Saturday.

Police said a man entered the shop and threatened staff before making off with the till.

The second incident happened around 2.15pm at the Premier shop on the corner of Llangyfelach Street and Caepistyll Street near Dyfatty junction.

Detectives said that in the Premier incident a man with a knife threatened staff before fleeing with a sum of cash.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incidents, and was yesterday being questioned at Swansea Central police station.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "I can confirm police are investigating two incidents of robbery with a knife at shops in Swansea.

"A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with them, and our investigations are ongoing."
