Police post vote worry
I AM amazed and concerned there has been so little information, publicity or campaigning from the prospective candidates for the vote for Police Commissioner.
Is it going to be a Gilbert and Sullivan post or one which will genuinely benefit the lives of our citizens in Swansea? I read that the existing Police Authority, which does the work that the new commissioner will do, is to be disbanded but — surprise, surprise — a new scrutiny panel is to be formed that will monitor how the new commissioner is doing and publish its report on the performance.
We were led to believe the new post would be free from any political manoeuvring, but yet there are Labour and Conservative candidates standing. Doesn't sound very free from political interference!
The sad thing is that the apathy shown by candidates and the electorate will probably result in a shoe-in for Alun Michael, the best known of the four candidates, on a very low turnout. Surely the new post should demand at least a 40 per cent turnout to be justified.

Yes, Gilbert and Sullivan definitely comes to mind: "I am a Major General".

“Yet another money wasting exercise by the Tory party, we must be a rich country having money to burn over such a silly voting exercise.”

“I'd be amazed if there was any campaigning.
Who would go out in evenings at this time of year and ask people who they are going to vote for in an election that hardly anyone wanted?”
