POLICE are promising to maintain their zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour around Swansea Marina and the city's seafront.

With temperatures soaring and the school holidays rapidly approaching, officers say they will be keeping up the pressure.

In recent weeks teams of up to 10 officers, including plain-clothed officers, have been mounting regular patrols of the seafront from the River Tawe and the Marina to the Civic Centre.

As part of the crackdown the names and addresses of scores of youngsters congregating on the beach have been taken — even where no offences were being committed — and letters sent to parents explaining why the police are targeting the area.

Inspector Steve Jones said: "We know anti-social behaviour is a major concern for residents and people using the seafront. I am pleased with the operation so far, and this work will be carried on through the school holidays and the summer months."

“Thank you gaynor, however people tend to pick on someone's weakness if they can't supply an answer. I'm dyslexic so no my spelling is not going to be spot on! Heather I am not a nationalist in any form! I DONT LIKE BIGOTS. Every person has a right to live where they need or want and not meant to be beholding to anyone! People who feel immigrants are milking the system should read some books by Marina Lewyka. Her novels and books on caring for the aged.”

“If you can't beat them - join them! Heather - before you slate someone for their spelling, please make sure you have checked your comment beforehand. Thanks”

“Steve, Uplands, you really are a naive little chap, you really are. I think you need to get out more and, whilst doing so, OPEN YOUR EYES!!!”

“@ pooley, swansea, seeing as you are a Welsh Nationalist, I hope that you also speak fluent Welsh (like myself?), although I very much doubt that; seeing as you can't spell?

Sorry I bought a house in Mumbles, many apologies that I have offened you, however, YOU would do exaclty the same. You little (fake) Welsh bigot.”
