Police issue shed burglary warning
HOMEOWNERS are being urged to make sure their garden sheds are kept secure after a spate of break-ins.
Officers say sheds across Llanelli — especially in the Felinfoel and Llwynhendy areas — have been targeted in recent weeks, with items including bicycles and power tools stolen.
Dyfed-Powys Police detective sergeant Antony Panter said thieves had not just been going for unlocked sheds, but also those made of lighter wood which were easier to break into.
He said: "When you think about the amount of valuable items we store in our sheds, these are rich pickings for the determined thief.
"Recently we've seen items such as bicycles and power tools including drills, pressure washers and strimmers being taken. And some of these items are worth a great deal of money and are costly to replace.
"So we're asking homeowners to do their part in keeping their belongings safe and also to help us catch those who are responsible."
