Police appeal for witnesses after vicious attack near Swansea city centre pub
POLICE are appealing for help after a vicious attack which left a 26-year-old man fighting for his life.
The victim was set upon near Yates's pub on Caer Street in Swansea city centre in what officers say was an unprovoked assault.

He suffered serious head injuries in the attack and is currently being treated in University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where his condition has been described as critical but stable.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Davies of South Wales Police urged anyone with information to come forward.

He said: "The severity of this assault has resulted in the young man being detained in University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with a serious head injuries.
"A number of people have already come forward and provided us with invaluable information, but we still want to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the attack."
Mr Davies added: "We believe that at the time there were a number of people in the vicinity of Caer Street and in particular outside the Yates's pub who could well have witnessed the assault."
The attack happened at around 1.20am on December 27 when revellers would still have been out and about celebrating Boxing Day night, though the details have only just been released by police.
A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and has been released on conditional bail to appear at Swansea Magistrates' Court on January 16.
Police are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.
