Acting Detective Inspector Ricky Price of Neath CID said: "It was very fortunate that this elderly lady did not confront the intruders as the consequences could have been serious.
"To pray on the elderly and vulnerable in their own homes is cowardly and despicable act, and these individuals must be caught before they strike again.
"I am appealing to residents of Meadow Road and surrounding area, if they saw anything suspicious at the relevant time to come forward."
