“Jiffy,
For starters, if he is a convicted murderer , why should he be released after a MERE 10 years ??
He would have had 50 or 100 years to serve in the USA......or a lethal injection !!
He should , AT LEAST, be in a VERY SECURE prison UNTIL he is fit to be released, not in a cushy open prison !!
If he was FIT to be released........why COMPLAIN THAT HE WAS POSSIBLY DANGEROUS?”

“If Grady was going to be released soon then why escape?
If he is still a possible danger to the public he should not be in an open prison.
It is exactly this kind of lax treatment of serious and dangerous criminals that gets joe public so annoyed.
The people who make decisions about crime and punishment have no idea about real life. They live in Ivory towers, cosseted and protected at our expense.
Killers should be in secure prisons until they know they will be released, only then should they have help adjusting to life back in the world.
If Grady kills again, who (apart from him) will take the blame?”

“Why are these 'dangerous or potentially dangerous' people even allowed out to pray on the law abiding public.
What is the point of wasting time, money & scarce resources to recapture them only to release them shortly.
Will this miraculously make them no longer 'dangerous or potentially dangerous' I think not.”

“Brian Grady has been in prison for nearly 10 years, he may be due for release. Putting him into an Open Prison allows him to get used to 'normal' life.
Other than a select few (less than 50) murderers, all killers are eventually let out of prison. The same goes for sex offenders, burglars, robbers and fraudsters.
I'm amazed that you two are unaware of this. Have you both been locked away from newspapers?”
