IT may have been freezing — but they still had a splashing time for a good cause.

The third annual Polar Dip at Aberavon Beach in aid of the Mathew Mizen Foundation attracted almost two dozen brave swimmers.

Mathew, 25, from Cwmavon, was a well-known figure in the village, where he worked as a postman for eight years.

The Cwmavon RFC winger died at Singleton Hospital four years ago following health problems linked to an undetected lymphoma.

The event raised well in excess of £500. "We'll definitely do it again next year," said Mr Mizen.
