Points and fine warning to drivers with uncleared snow on their cars
A WARNING has gone out to motorists who fail to clear snow from their cars.
Drivers may face penalty points and a fine and will also waste money on fuel by driving off with added weight on the roof.
A survey has revealed that almost one in five people across the UK don't remove the snow from their cars before setting out.
While most people clear snow from their windscreen and rear window and even their drive, many leave the roof of their cars untouched.

Police are warning that driving with an obscured windscreen could lead to three points and a £60 fine.
Winter motoring expert Alan Rennie, from Halfords, which conducted the research said: "Driving with snow on your car roof could land you with a £60 fine and three points on your licence.
"Our research should give all drivers that extra incentive to remove the snow from most parts of their car, not just the windows, before they set off."

“Causing danger to other road users (snow/ice falling into path of other motorists or causing damage to vehicles) would comprise offence. It would have to be witnessed falling, simply having snow would be difficult to prove.”

“This is false. The obscured windscreen thing is true (and can also be applied to other windows) but the roof comment is plain wrong.”
