Plea hearing in December for man accused of mosque damage
A MAN accused of vandalising a mosque in Neath has been remanded in custody following a Crown Court appearance.
Steven John Desmond Davies appeared at Swansea Crown Court via video link today for a preliminary hearing.
The 21-year-old, of Heol y Graig, Tonna, is charged with racially aggravated criminal damage after windows were damaged at Tonna Mosque in the early hours of Friday, September 13.
He is also charged with causing actual bodily harm and common assault. At the hearing, he spoke only to confirm his name.
He will next appear at Swansea Crown Court on Monday, December 23, for a plea hearing.
The appearance comes as Neath Port Talbot Council's deputy leader and board member for equality, Councillor Peter Rees, visited the site to offer his support to the Muslim community.
