Player ratings for Swansea V Liverpool
HERE is how our football writers rated the players' performances:
Michel Vorm: Made one excellent save from Daniel Sturridge with the score at 1-1 and showed composure to pass rather than clear when harried by a high Liverpool line.
Angel Rangel: Had one shot that sailed just wide of the post towards the end of the first half and was a threat down the right. Looked to pick up a knock in the closing stages.
Ashley Williams: A commanding presence at the heart of defence, though the Swansea skipper was posed a few problems by a blistering Liverpool attack.
Chico Flores: Had a tough evening dealing with Liverpool’s lively forward line, but coped pretty well and made a sensational last-ditch tackle to preserve a point.
Ben Davies: Showed no signs of fatigue despite playing twice for Wales during the international break. Covered a lot of ground up and down the left.
Leon Britton: A calming influence in Swansea’s engine room, Britton, as usual, was one of the most composed in possession. Kept cool in a red-hot atmosphere.
Jonjo Shelvey: After putting Swansea in front, Shelvey gifted Liverpool a goal, gave away possession for their second and might also have been sent off before setting up Michu’s goal.
Michu: Starved of possession for much of the night, the Spaniard cut a frustrated figure for long periods but showed a poacher’s instinct to score Swansea’s second goal.
Nathan Dyer: Started because Pablo Hernandez was ruled out through injury, the winger was replaced at half-time as Michael Laudrup tried to shore things up by introducing Jonathan de Guzman.
Wilfried Bony: Often isolated up front, the striker had few genuine sights of goal. Simon Mignolet held one first-half effort from the Ivorian, who made way for Alejandro Pozuelo.
Wayne Routledge: Provided Swansea with an attacking outlet on more than one occasion. Got into some promising positions, but tended to pass rather than go himself.
Jonathan de Guzman: (For Dyer 45) Made Swansea more solid.
Alejandro Pozuelo: (For Bony 66) Showed some great touches.
