Planning application in Wales to be made easier
PROPOSALS to improve planning applications for people in Wales have gone out to consultation.
The paper is looking to ensure that the process for making small alterations to approved applications is consistent across Wales.
It means changes that will not affect the overall scheme, for example changing the position of a window so it doesn't over look a neighbour.
Environment Minister, John Griffiths, said: "As part of our ongoing review of the planning system I am keen to support the recovery of our economy by removing unnecessary bureaucracy and providing clarity for users. At the same time we need to ensure that any changes, such as the proposals outlined in this consultation, are done responsibly and are thoroughly examined.

“The planners are very often a law unto themselves. Off the record, many of them admit they would like more powers. It goes to their heads !”

“Planning is a joke, I put an application in in May 2012 and am still waiting for an answer despite chasing them over and over again, the plans I entered had been discussed withthem prior to submission so they are tailored to the councils planning guidelines. I have the finance in place and am desperate for additional living space and the council just sit there doing nothing. Someone could have had employment with this job, no wonder the country is in such a state.”
