Plaid backing online presence
A STEP forward in Welsh internet domain names has been welcomed by Plaid Cymru.
The party's broadcasting spokesman Alun Ffred Jones welcomed a consultation launched by Nominet.
Nominet is a registry operator which is planning to launch two domain names — .wales and .cymru.
The Party of Wales said it was supportive of Nominet's application, and hoped that establishing the domain names would enable Welsh businesses to trade under the Welsh brand, and allow Welsh organisations to assert their identity.

Mr Jones said: "It is now important that individuals, public bodies and private companies all respond and present their views so that we can ensure that Wales's online identity is strengthened.
"Establishing a Welsh domain name is an opportunity not to be missed. But it needs to be done properly, and consultation is important in ensuring a successful outcome."
