ON the evening of Tuesday, June 19 1984, a memorable and monumental jazz concert took place at the Taliesin Arts Centre here in Swansea. It was the inaugural event to mark the opening of the Centre and pianist Dave Brubeck's Quartet were booked for this auspicious occasion.

This coming Sunday at 7.30pm, Dave Brubeck's son Darius will bring his own quartet to Taliesin Arts Centre, as part of this year's Swansea Festival of Music and the Arts, to play a concert of music entitled Kind of Brubeck.

He will be accompanied by the first-rate tenor saxophonist Dave O'Higgins rather than Mike Rossi, who is listed in the Taliesin programme, by bassist Matt Ridley and Wesley Gibbens at the drums.

See an interview with Darius elsewhere on the Going Out pages.
