IT is half a century since the Mumbles train carried its last passenger — but enthusiasts are keeping the memory of the much-loved service alive.

And among them is 66-year-old Peter Watson, from Cockett.

The retired Ford plant worker has had a life-long passion for the train, and has built up a collection of memorabilia on the old service — including a ticket from the last train — as well as building models of the trams.

Mr Watson said: "I've always loved the Mumbles train and collect everything I can about it.

"As a boy I can remember we used to race the trains along Mumbles Road on our bicycles. It was a wonderful attraction, and its demise was a real loss to the city."
