Pensioner calls for skateboard and bicycle ban in Llanelli's pedestrianised areas
A LLANELLI pensioner has called for a ban on skateboards and bicycles in Stepney Street and Vaughan Street.
Edward "Spike" Milligan has claimed the council had promised to act on this following the completion of renovation work, but that nothing had come to fruition.
He has claimed to have recently witnessed a near miss between pensioner and a bike.
"Someone is going to get hit," he said.
Traffic Management and Parking Services manager John McEvoy said that no commitment had been given to ban cycling on those streets.
He added: "Unfortunately, the council has no powers to enforce against cycling or skating on Stepney Street."
He did say, however, that the council would meet with the Roads Policing Unit in the town centre to consider options.
