It will make for a welcome return to Swansea for James, who bowed out at the Ospreys at the end of last term after nine seasons and 180 appearances, a record tally for the region.
He could renew acquaintances in the front row with his old Ospreys, Neath and national-squad team-mate Adam Jones.

Bath should provide the Ospreys with a good work out.
The former English champions have added several new faces to their squad for the coming campaign, including James, Day and England international Rob Webber. They also have Francois Louw in their back row, Michael Classens at scrum-half and Olly Barkley in midfield.
With more than 8,000 membership packages sold for the new season, the region will hope to attract a big crowd for their first home date since they lifted the Pro12 title by defeating Leinster in Dublin.
Season tickets are valid for the game, with details on match-day tickets soon to be made available.
Steve Tandy's squad are also booked for a training camp in France, culminating in a friendly with Clermont Auvergne in the picturesque town of Issoire on August 10.
