Patients are being urged to think twice before they go to A&E in Carmarthenshire
PEOPLE in Carmarthenshire are being urged to choose well on healthy Wednesday and think twice before going to A&E over the weekend.
Health bosses are reminding people that A&E does not stand for anything and everything.
Findings show a high number of people go through the doors of the emergency unit or dial 999 even though they would be better off going to a different service instead which is more suitable for their needs.
Hywel Dda Health Board has been using the Choose Well campaign with it's colour-coded thermometer, to help people link symptoms to the services and support that is right for their needs.
It is aimed at ensuring people get their care in the right place at the right time and they get their treatment in a quicker timescale.
Consultant Jeremy Williams, the board's clinical lead for unscheduled care, said they were not discouraging people who needed emergency care from going along to their units but said A&Es were in place for a specific purpose.
