Passenger killed in Pontsticill car crash
A 28-year-old woman has died following an early morning car crash.
Police say the woman was the passenger in a green Honda Civic which hit a tree near Pontsticill, north of Merthyr. The 36-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.
The crash happened at around 1.40am on Saturday on the Pontsticill to Pant road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward - including a man who was walking in the area at the time.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: "The collision involved a single vehicle, a green Honda Civic motor car, beleieved to have been travelling towards the village of pant when it collided with a tree at that location.
"Police are appealing to any witnesses to this collision, any persons who may have been in the area at the time and who saw this vehicle being driven before the collision occurred, or who may have seen a male walking along that section of the road at the the relevant time to contact police."
