TOWN councillors in Porthcawl have voted against parking charges along the seafront.

Bridgend Council has gone out to consultation on the proposal.

It would see motorists having to pay between 30p and £6 to park along Eastern Promenade, the Esplanade and parts of West Drive.

Independent town councillor Mark Davies said he had spoken to traders and they feared parking charges would kill the town.

However, other town councillors were in favour of parking charges.

However, the vote went against them.

Bridgend Council said it would analyse all responses to the consultation.
