Park work gets the green light
SWANSEA Council has been granted conditional permission to carry out works at one of the oldest municipal parks in Wales.
The local authority is looking to change the use of part of the bowls pavilion to a cafe and install solar panels at Cwmdonkin Park.
The council is also looking to extend the toilets and install further solar panels.
Its project will also feature replacement fences, walls and gates as well as new pedestrian access off Park Road, the formation of new play areas and alterations to the parks compound and associated works.
The latest works have been planned following a condition survey highlighting the need for improvements such as a disabled toilet and disabled access throughout the park.
The council has also identified the need to bring in more seating at the park.
It is looking to improve signage and upgrade water features to make them more visible and welcoming.
The local authority is keen to upgrade existing play equipment for young children as well as bringing in extra play equipment for teenagers to make the park more inviting for all ages.
The works will see replica Victorian railings installed as well as the repair of existing railings.
