PARENTS in Llangunnor, Carmarthen have handed over a petition to council traffic chiefs calling for traffic calming on a busy road through their village.

They want to see a clampdown on drivers travelling at twice the speed limit near a children's play area on Blaengwastod Road.

A petition has been launched with more than 80 signatures was handed to the local authority on Thursday.

Parents want a raised pedestrian area at the entrance to the park to deter drivers from travelling fast.

There are also concerns about speed because there is a bus stop opposite the park, which is regularly used by elderly people.

The road has been used as a rat-run into Carmarthen.
