POLICE are hunting for vandals who threw paint stripper over cars in a Swansea garage — from the pavement.

Seven cars including a Mini Cooper, a Ford Focus and a VW Golf were damaged in the attack, which happened just yards from a busy Swansea road.

The vandals threw the chemical on to the vehicles from behind the garage's fence.

Officers are appealing for anybody with information on the incident to come forward.

Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with the vandalism attack:

The cars were damaged at Hafod Car Sales on Neath Road, Hafod.

Owner Arash Karimbeik said he found the vandalised cars when he came to work.

He said: "Somebody thew paint stripper over the cars, there is a lot of damage.

"I couldn't believe it when I saw what had happened. I don't know why the cars were attacked.

"The pain stripper went all over the fronts of the seven cars — I am talking to the insurance company to work out how much the damage is going to cost.

"They threw the liquid through my fence.

"This is a busy area and I am hoping someone saw something."

The attack happened around 8pm on Sunday, and police are studying CCTV footage in a bid to identify the culprit or culprits.

South Wales Police are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.

A spokesman said: "Police are investigating an incident of criminal damage which occurred at Hafod Car Sales at around 8pm on January 20.

"It is believed that a quantity of liquid — which has been identified as pain stripper — was thrown at cars on the forecourt of the garage, resulting in damage. In total seven cars were damaged.

"We would urge anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area at the relevant time, to come forward."
