THIS IS PURE GOLD!
FORGET Gareth Edwards and the so-called golden generation, the here and now is as good as it gets.
For much of the 1970s, the Welsh rugby team seemed invincible.
Heroes like Barry John, Gareth Edwards and JPR Williams (below) dominated the game and helped land three Grand Slams (beating England, Scotland, Ireland and France) in 1971, 1976 and 1978.
Fast forward far too many years for the success-starved Welsh supporters of the '80s and '90s to 2005 and perhaps the most celebrated Grand Slam of them all.
Mike Ruddock's boys (below) ended 28 years of real hurt by coming of age and went on to prove it was no fluke.
More Grand Slams in 2008 and 2012 matched Gareth's golden oldies and a World Cup semi-final helped tip the balance in favour of the likes of George North and Leigh Halfpenny.
Of course no two eras are ever the same – so let the debate commence!
