Ospreys flyer Walker's North face-off
ELI Walker will face George North in Northampton on Sunday with the Ospreys backing their young flyer to show there is more than one deadly wing on the pitch at Franklin's Gardens.
North's reputation goes before him after his iconic displays for the Lions in Australia in the summer.
Walker is a different kind of wide-man but the Ospreys have total faith in his finishing and reckon he can make a mark in the must-win Heineken Cup encounter in the east Midlands.
Head coach Steve Tandy acknowledged the challenge was to supply the 21-year-old with the opportunities to show off his talents.
"Eli got the ball in his hands a couple of times against Leinster, but it wasn't where we needed him to be," said Tandy. "We've looked at that and addressed it as a team.
"Hopefully, he'll get a bit more ball and a bit more space at the weekend.
"It's an exciting match-up between him and George.
"George is pretty decent, isn't he? He's outstanding. We know his qualities and we have to try to make sure we limit his opportunities."
The former flanker continued: "Eli's been doing really well for us, so it's something that will be exciting for the supporters.
"Hopefully, there'll be a couple of one-on-ones with Eli having the ball, not George."
The Ospreys have made no secret that they are on a death-or-glory mission this weekend, with a defeat almost certain to condemn them to an early Heineken Cup exit.
They have performed poorly when losing to Ulster and Leinster over the past fortnight.
But they are hoping the major focus that will be on their clash with one of England's strongest sides will help pep their players and inspire a big performance.
"It's going to be an amazing occasion once again," said Tandy. "We are disappointed after last week but we have to move on. Going up to Northampton refocuses your mind pretty quickly."
