Offences are not tolerated
DYFED-POWYS Police are backing National Hate Crime Awareness Week with a warning that such offences will not be tolerated.
On Thursday the force will be holding a major conference bringing together a range of agencies to look at ways of raising awareness of the problem — and how to tackle it.
Dyfed-Powys chief constable Simon Prince said safeguarding vulnerable people in the community was a key priority for his officers.
He said: "People do not have to tolerate any abusive behaviour which relates to their identity, whether it is based on their religion, disability, race, belief, sexuality or transgender.
"I know that such incidents continue to be under reported, but I want our communities to be reassured that we do take these matters very seriously and we will do everything possible to bring those responsible for this type of crime to justice."
