A 90-METRE long wall is being constructed to protect Pwll residents from flooding.

Work began yesterday on the structure, which, once complete, will protect an estimated 30 properties in Stepney Road and Bassett Terrace from flooding by the River Dulais.

The work is part of a wider £1.6 million flood scheme for the area which overall will provide flood protection to almost 160 properties.

Specialist machinery has been brought in for the construction.
