New sci-fi film to be shot in Swansea Bay
A NEW sci-fi film is on its way to Swansea Bay.
Leading actor and producer Elliot Cowan will be filming the movie Dreck in the Swansea and Port Talbot area, following on from the completion of Da Vinci's Demons, which is based at the former Visteon factory site in Fabian Way.

Elliot is one of the stars of Da Vinci's Demons, which has been written and directed by Hollywood scriptwriter David S Goyer.

Now the West End star, who has appeared in a variety of productions including A Streetcar Named Desire opposite actress Rachel Weisz, along with films including The Golden Compass, will be taking on the lead role of Frank Grieves in Dreck.
Mr Cowan said: "While shooting Da Vinci's Demons in Swansea and Port Talbot, I realised what a fabulous location the area would be to bring a feature film to. The theme of the film fits perfectly with the post- industrial backdrop of the steelworks and coalmines the area is famed for.
"The creative teams in the area are also some of the best in the world, from hair and make up to set design, making shooting in the area an obvious choice."
He revealed that with the support of David S Goyer he and his team had been able to forge strong links with the community. Mr Cowan added: "We've been massively endorsed and supported by the generosity of local businesses and organisations including Matilda's Planet, Neath Port Talbot County Borough, Enfys Foundation, Tornado Films, Project Specific located at the Baglan Bay Innovation Centre and more."
Dreck is set in the near future and tells the story of Frank Grieves, a new breed of police officer working in a city where all recreational drugs are legal.
But when he is taken off a case involving an unidentified corpse, he finds the drugs legalisation has come at a price.
Acting legend Jonathan Pryce, who has Evita and Tomorrow Never Dies to his film credits, will play Yuri Sidorov in the new movie, Downton Abbey actor Robert Bathurst will take on the role of Nolan, and France's hottest new action star Elodie Yung will star as Eva Gray.
Elodie has previously appeared in David Fincher's film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, along with District 13: Ultimatum. Dreck will be shot in both Swansea Bay and London.
Producers describe it as a dystopian thriller in the spirit of New Wave science fiction with the energy and drive of a Bourne movie. It is produced by TSquared Films, a joint venture between Justin Trefgarne and Eldar Tuvey.

“Where did this £25 a day come from? The minimum wage is about £6 an hour and I don't believe anyone is fool enough to work for less, moreso when a day's filming can easily exceed 10 hours.”

“Arnold, yes if it was something I really wanted to do then yes for a short period I would.
I suspect we all spend reasonable portions of our time doing activities that we enjoy such as playing football, music or amateur dramatics without any pay whatsoever.
If someone offered my £25 a day for a few days of doing something I enjoyed and I could get the time off work then yes I would.
The other way to look on it for a young actor is potential work experience, which again a lot of people would do for nothing if it helps.”

One thing i know for sure if it's set after 2015 then Labour will be back in power. UKIP will have seen to that when they got over 10% of the vote, they didn't get any MP's but decimated the Tory party lol”
