New mum, actress Joanna Page, feared for roles
SWANSEA actress Joanna Page has revealed how she doubted getting back into the industry after having her first baby.
Page, who is best known for playing Stacey in the popular sitcom Gavin and Stacey, said she was shocked to receive two job offers in one week just three weeks after giving birth to her daughter, Eva. The 35-year-old has landed two new roles, the first playing the part of Lily Enderbury in Breathless.
Lily is an ex-nurse married to hospital anaesthetist Dr Charlie Enderbury and a woman who is desperate to start a family.
In her second new role, Page plays the part of Queen Elizabeth in Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary special episode, which airs in November.
She said: "The day I auditioned for Breathless I came home and got a phone call saying they'd really like me for the role of Lily in the drama.
"And then an email arrived saying, 'Oh and also, you've just been offered the part of Queen Elizabeth in Doctor Who's 50th. I didn't even have to audition.
"It was so weird. I thought I would probably never work again and then suddenly I got two jobs, just like that. It was bizarre."
Page said filming was now even more amazing when baby Eva was with her.
