New Tottenham deal for former Swansea City target Steven Caulker
Former Swansea City loanee Steven Caulker has signed a new four-year contract with Tottenham.
The defender, who was recently called up to the Team GB football squad for the Olympics, is expected to challenge for a first-team place under new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas following an impressive performance on loan at the Liberty.

Caulker signed his first professional deal with the North London club in 2008 and he has since enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell with Swansea.
The England Under-21 international was also on loan with League One side Yeovil and Championship Bristol City in previous seasons.

A return to the Liberty looks unlikely and replacement for the defender will be a priority for new Swansea boss Michael Laudrup.

“...also Tom, King has been let go, Dawson is injury prone, Gallas isn't getting any younger, and Bassong's future at WHL was, until 'Arry left, rather uncertain. Along with Kaboul, Caulker could be first pick for Spurs.”

“Sorry tomgiffard, I would have to disagree,
I think he will be right in from the start. I agree with you in that he is a great prospect. That said, the way everyone was going on about Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Micah Richards, Gary Cahill et al I think this boy is up there and better than them, even now.
Taking aside the 4-0 opening day defeat, he played well against all the top sides last year and that would not have gone un-noticed by AVB / Levy.
Good luck to him. I wish him well”

“Kaboul, Gallas, Dawson, King, Bassong all look to be ahead of him in the pecking order unfortunately. Great prospect as we all saw this season but don't think spending the next season at Spurs will do him many favours.”
