New Scene opening up
ROCK, pop and blues lovers will have a new place to throw some shapes when The Scene throws open its doors on St Valentine's Day.
With former Amen Corner saxman Alan Jones at the helm, the place already has some big names lined up, who will visit the venue in Plymouth Street this year.
Tonight's launch night has more of a local feel, with Swansea acts plugging in for a charity night to boost prostate cancer charity funds at Morriston Hospital.
Gary Pickford Hopkins, John Corbett and Cliff Watkins will feature, along with Plastic Sam's Stargazer and Jango Haze, starting at 7.30pm with tickets from Derricks Records.

The place was most recently operating as a bar and music venue, Milkwoodjam, and as well as being a former musician himself, Alan was at the helm at Cardiff's Globe until recently and some of the greats from the London pub rock scene of the 1970s, as well as some well-loved guitar heroes, are already schedules to perform at The Scene.
So the beaty Ducks Deluxe, Ginger Baker's Jazz Fusion, Dr Feelgood, Chris Farlowe, The Blockheads and Bruce Foxton, with From The Jam, will pack them in over the next few months.
Alan says: "I am planning to bring a similar array of artists to Swansea, to the ones I brought to The Globe, which will include regular nights of entertainment featuring everything from rock, blues, reggae, ska, Americana, jazz and acoustic music to comedy and burlesque. performed by international, national and the best local acts.
"On certain nights live music will be followed by club events where customers can enjoy the ambience until 3am."
