Net gain as pupils help out
A SILVER surfers group in Port Talbot will be restarting this month.
The Silver Surfers Intergenerational Project at Glan Afan Comprehensive School provides free computer sessions for senior citizens.
Pupils from the school have voluntarily given up their time to take on the role of ''teacher'' one evening a week, since the project began in 2006.
Project co-ordinator Luke Jenkins, who studies at Swansea Metropolitan University, said: "We know a relatively small percentage of senior citizens in Neath Port Talbot use the internet, and that it is becoming more and more important in everyday life.

"We want to encourage older residents of the county to explore the world of the internet.
"By attending our weekly sessions, senior citizens are able to gain the skills and confidence they need to be able to surf the web alone."
The sessions will resume on September 12 at 3.30pm. Anyone aged 50 or above is welcome to come along.
