Neath still searching for first victory
A DOMINANT first half set Bedwas up for a deserved first win of the season at The Gnoll.
But the defeat means Neath are still searching for their first win of the season and they have dropped into the bottom two of the Premiership.
Bedwas started well and the boot of Richard Powell landed two penalties after 12 minutes.
Neath's Dai Langdon kicked a penalty to reduce the arrears and the hosts went in front when a stray pass was intercepted by Neath wing Ashleigh Evans who raced through to touch down by the posts. Langdon added the simple conversion.
Four minutes later Bedwas hooker Richard Wilkes powered through for a try Powell converted. Two minutes later Steve Cullen broke down the right and ran through for a try, again Powell converted.
Five minutes later Luc Jones marked his Bedwas debut with a fine try.
Powell and Langdon then exchanged penalties to make the half-time score 28-13 to the visitors.
Langdon slotted a drop-goal before adding a third penalty, though Powell added another to settle Bedwas nerves.
Neath full-back Ceri Young broke through some weak tackling for a try which Langdon converted to put Neath within five points.
Bedwas found a second wind and Powell landed two penalties to take his personal tally to 22 points and deny Neath a losing bonus point.
