A NEATH man has pleaded guilty to stealing items from a Tenovus cancer charity shop.

Neath Magistrates' Court heard Andrew Walters, of Osterley Street, stole three gift sets from the charity shop in Wind Street on January 12.

The 30-year-old also stole two paperback books worth around £4 from the Works bookshop on the same day as well.

Defence solicitor Mike Spring said: "The facts speak for themselves but there is a long standing background with drugs.

"I feel this maybe appropriate for the drugs court."

Town magistrate Caroline Wheeler said: "This can be dealt with more appropriately when there will be drug professionals in court."

Walters will return to court today to be dealt with.
