Neath Port Talbot council transport staff praised for listening
COUNCIL staff in Neath Port Talbot have been praised for "listening", after putting on a bus service direct to Morriston Hospital.
Skewen councillor Arthur Davies told fellow members of Coedffranc Community Council that following a meeting with officers about bus services, he was not expecting any extra buses to be put on.
Despite that, during the meeting, he raised cocnerns that there were no direct services from Neath to Morriston Hospital - and was surprised to hear not only would there be one put on, but there would also be a service from Port Talbot to the site.
"They wanted to cut the amount of subsidies for bus companies," he said.
"I was expecting nothing, but it shows you've got officers there who are listening, because at the next meeting they said we're going to put a bus service in not only from Neath, but Port Talbot as well, to Morriston Hospital."
"It must be six or seven months ago I spoke about it, officers have delivered and it's only for a six month period, so it really is use it or lose it.
The Monday to Friday service will start on Tuesday, August 27.
The first bus will leave Port Talbot at 9am and arrive at Morriston Hospital at 9.25am, with the last bus leaving the hospital at 4.30pm and arriving back in Port Talbot at 4.55pm.
The first bus from Neath will leave Victoria Gardens at 8.15am and arrive at Morriston at 8.50am. The last will leave the hospital at 4.15pm and arrive back in Neath at 4.40pm.
