Nakima the chimpanzee gets her own Swansea City shirt
THE Swans have a new global star!
Meet Nakima the chimpanzee and proud owner of the latest personalised Swans shirt to roll out of the club.
The treasured garment, which carries her name and the number one in gold lettering, was given as a gift after the chimp made headlines around the world for wrapping herself in a blanket to survive the cold weather that had descended upon the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary in Caehopkin, near Abercrave.
The picture of Nakima, who lives in the sanctuary along with around 70 other primates, went around the world and as a result the Swans stepped in with some extra insulation.

Jan Garen, who runs the sanctuary with husband Graham, explained: "They saw her in her blanket in the paper and they sent her a Swans shirt — they even put her name on the back.
"She took her blanket off straight- away and put the shirt on herself.
"It's absolutely brilliant. I have been a Swansea City fan for years and years."
Of the worldwide interest in the chimps, she said: "My cousin lives in America and she called to tell me that Nakima was on Good Morning America.
"It went viral. She was also on TV in Australia and Japan.
"It's been great as we have had loads of visitors since the story went in the Evening Post and it all helps to bring in money to keep the place going."
