A NEW Neath Port Talbot charity which will ensure that children and young people's rights are respected and protected has been launched.

The NPT children's rights unit aims to make the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), a reality for children, young people and their families living in the county.

Director of the children's rights unit Hannah Bussicott said: "The practical implementation of the UNCRC is being seen in a variety of different ways across Wales.

"A primary example of this is the CRU — a new organisation totally committed to making children's rights a reality in Neath Port Talbot."
