Mum in memorial fund plea for babies
A YOUNG mum whose daughter died of pneumonia, aged just four days, has launched a memorial charity to raise awareness of the condition and money for research.
Baby Shenay was born in Singleton Hospital last year but, tragically, days later she was fighting for life.

Laura Walker.
Four days after leaving hospital with the baby, mum Laura Walker woke at 5.30am in their Treboeth home with the dreadful feeling that something was wrong. She found the baby motionless in her cot.
Despite desperate attempts to revive her and a dash to Morriston Hospital with paramedics, Shenay died. An inquest found the baby died of septicaemia due to pneumonia.
Laura, aged 22, said she wanted to get to the bottom of what had happened to her daughter.
"I still can't believe what happened — I'm still numb," she said. "She was such a beautiful baby.
"I would like to see routine X-rays of babies so the condition is diagnosed early and can be treated."
Shenay died on August 14 last year. In memory of her daughter, Laura has launched the Shenay Fuller Charity to raise money for Group B Streptococcus Support, a group which campaigns to raise awareness of "B Strep" — the most common cause of life-threatening infections in newborn babies. The first fund- raising event will be a charity evening at the Cwmfelin Club, Cwmbwrla, on Sunday, March 1, which will include raffles and quizzes.
A spokeswoman for Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust said the trust could not comment on individual cases.
But she added: "We want to pass on our sincere condolences for this terrible loss.
"If Miss Walker has any concerns or questions about the care of her baby, we would be happy to arrange a meeting."

“My heart goes out to Laura. There is nothing more devastating than losing a baby.
My late mother lost a baby to double pneumonia in the 40s. He was just eight months old and though she lived into the early 80s she never forgot him.
Well done to you Laura for thinking of others and trying to do something positive during this very distressing time.”

“I don't think routinely X-raying newborn babies sounds a very sensible suggestion!”
