A £9.5 MILLION centre to support patients with artificial limbs was today due to open its doors at Swansea's Morriston Hospital.

The Specialist Rehabilitation Centre is part of a £102 million redevelopment of the hospital and features consulting and treatment rooms, occupational therapy facilities and a physiotherapy gym.

Lorna Tasker, principal clinical scientist at the Rehabilitation Engineering unit housed in the centre, said: "The centre is a first-class building providing dedicated clinical facilities which will significantly improve the patient experience."

The overall redevelopment of Morriston Hospital has already seen a multi-storey car park and estates building completed, as well as upgrades to the mortuary and emergency department.
