Money problems force Gwenllian Court Hotel near Kidwelly into administration
They say there are no immediate plans to make any redundancies.
Paul Evans, of Deloitte, who have been appointed as administrators, said: "The company, which is Gwenllian Court Hotel Ltd, went into administration on March 9.
"We are continuing to trade the business as normal.
"It is business as usual while seeking to find a purchaser for the hotel as a going concern."
Asked about the future of the dozen or so staff at the Gwenllian, Mr Evans said: "There have been no staff redundancies; obviously things do change, but there is no plan to make redundancies."
The hotel is currently owned and run by Adrian Bartles and his wife, Jacqui.
The couple live at the hotel with their three children.
Mr Evans said: "To be honest, they have lost a lot of money here and this is not a case of the usual things to do with a company going into administration."
He said it was hoped that the hotel would attract interest when it goes up for sale.
"We are hopeful that the hotel will generate some local interest with a bit of competitive attention from a number of potential buyers that could drive the price up."
He said Deloitte had attempted to contact those prospective customers of the Gwenllian who had placed deposits for future weddings and events.
The Gwenllian has been a popular choice for hosting events such as wedding receptions.
The Bartles bought the business four years ago.
They had been running it as managers prior to that, said Mr Evans. He added: "We as administrators will also honour the deposits. Some people may have paid deposits for £200, £250, some may have paid 50 per cent of their wedding function.
"As long as we continue to trade the business we will honour these deposits."
One bride-to-be who has paid a deposit is Helen Stevens, aged 30, of Havard Road, Llanelli, who plans to tie the knot with Edward Clarke on June 24.
She said: "I am very upset and angry, as there is no guarantee that I can still have my wedding.
"I need to know if I can get my money back."

“I manage a wider curriculum programme which support young people who are dissengaged, dissaffected and at risk of exclusion from school. The Gwenllian have supported my group and have been excellent, they have taught these young people a variety of skills including cooking, communication and team work. They have given the young people the confidence to work with people and have increased their self belief. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and owners who i have found very polite and helpful at all times. I wish Jaquie and Adrian and the staff team all the very best for the future !!X X”

“So sorry to hear the news. Hope you keep fighting and get the support you need from everyone. What people seem to be forgetting is that the doors are still open, and business is trading as normal, with both Jacqui and Adrian managing the place.
I was there last night with my boyfriend, and had a wonderful meal, and the service was great. Keep your chin up guysxx”

“I am sorry to hear about the Hotel.
However, having visited a number of times, i am not surprised, they did not have much of a clue about running a business and being good hosts.
Some of the staff struggled to say hello to you. You rarely saw the owners, even when they could have been running the bar themselves during the quiet week and not running around in new VW Touregs
It amazes me, then, when people ask, why us??
Hello, reality check please!!”

“What a great shame that the Gwenllian has hit on hard times. The dedication and time that the Bartels put in to this lovely family run hotel should not go unmissed. Having spent a number of vacations at this hotel with great food and hosts I wish this great family all the best and hope the vultures at the other hotels sod off”
