FIRST Minister Carwyn Jones was today discussing how to boost Wales's exports further and attract foreign investment at a meeting with business leaders and trade unions.

"International trade and attracting foreign investment is vital for Wales in a hugely competitive world economy," he said ahead of the Council for Economic Renewal gathering.

"That is why it is more important than ever that the Welsh Government supports Welsh companies to explore trade opportunities in new markets. The global economy remains extremely difficult and manufacturing and exports will be central to Wales's recovery. Making cutting edge products that world wants is vitally important if we are to compete.

"The latest figures show Welsh exports have increased by £81 million over the latest year to £13.2 billion. Since 1999, Welsh exports have more than doubled.
