OPPORTUNITIES will be grasped to ensure the long-term viability of food and drink in Wales, the Deputy Minister for Food has said.

Alun Davies has outlined his plans to deliver a thriving and sustainable food sector that offers long-term employment and prosperity across Wales.

He said: "Not only is Welsh food emblematic of our rich heritage and culture, it is also extremely important to our economy, and the Welsh Government are committed to ensuring a viable food industry for the future. Consumer confidence in our excellent produce is currently riding high, and I intend to build on that confidence and enable our food and drinks industries to strengthen and thrive."

The Deputy Minister confirmed positive work was progressing in collaboration with the sector, and targeted action is being taken.
