MOST people could be expected to experience pins and needles after running a marathon, but one Burry Port have-a-go athlete is inducing them as part of his preparation.

Businessman and philanthropist Kevin Green has turned to Pembrey-based Angela Lewis, of Craig y Mor Acupuncture, in a bid to complete the Virgin London Marathon on April 25.

Mr Green, who was unveiled last year as a Channel Four Secret Millionaire after taking part in the television programme, which allows well-off people to help the less fortunate, hopes the treatment will see him complete his first marathon.

He said: "I am running for the Amber Foundation, which offers young offenders aged between 18 and 30 a second chance and a fresh start in life."

Training was a big shock to the system and a learning curve.

He said: "I overdid it and did my knees in, hence the acupuncture."

After just one session on the treatment table Mr Green is making no secret of the fact that he is a fan.

"It's amazing," he said. "I was very sceptical beforehand but after just one session I'm feeling a lot better."
