Mike Phillips will not be sanctioned by Wales over Bayonne alcohol allegations
WALES will not be sanctioning Mike Phillips after Wales's scrum-half allegedly turned up for a club video analysis session under the influence of alcohol.
Bayonne have asked Phillips and other players to explain themselves before a panel of directors over the supposed incident.
But Wales are not planning to discipline the former Osprey.
Instead, the national coach will have a quiet chat with him.
Gatland said: "It’s a French decision, a Bayonne decision.
"Those are issues for him to sort out. All I can say is that for the last few campaigns with us he has been great.
"On the Lions tour he conducted himself extremely well on and off the field. I am expecting the same again.
"There is obviously a slight concern that this is not something that is being repeated.
"There have been other incidents in the past and we will sit down and have a quiet chat to see what he is doing. But there are not going to be any sanctions here."
