SWANSEA City will have a current Spanish international in February when Michu makes his debut for the world and European champions.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque revealed over the weekend that Michu, who netted his 14th goal of the season to earn Swansea a point against Manchester United, will be called up for the friendly against Uruguay.

The former Rayo Vallecano man has made a sensational start to life at the Liberty Stadium following his £2.2 million summer switch to Wales.

Michu is the leading scorer in the Premier League after the United strike took him to 13 for the season, while he also scored in the Capital One Cup against Crawley Town.

He is set to be handed a first Spain cap alongside Iago Aspas, a striker who, coincidentally, has been linked with a January move to Swansea in recent weeks.

The 25-year-old has impressed at Celta Vigo this season and is thought to be on Michael Laudrup's list of potential transfer window targets, though talk of an £8 million asking price could put Swansea off.

"Iago Aspas and Michu will appear (against Uruguay)," del Bosque told Spanish television over the weekend.

“Totally agree. I don't support the Swans, but I follow them because I live here. An why shouldn't a player who plays for a team in the (almost) top half of the most exciting (not necessarily the best!) league in the world get a break. Outstanding player, and well done to Laudrup for carrying on the evolution of the Swans”

“Great news, because unlike England the Spanish team is almost impossible to break into. What a dream partnership Michu and David Villa would be up front for us till the end of the season...”

“Well done Michu, dont forget, you have thrived here, it happens time after time.

Hope you are not in a rush to leave, success of a footballer depends on many factors, if you find a place that works and you are happy, dont be in a rush to leave for the desinger name. You saw the designer name this weekend and you sunk a goal past them, its not all that.

Gonna be hard to keep this guy I think, hope he stays, but this only raises his value.

    What a find!”
