MICHEL Vorm has said Swansea City owe their fans an apology after yesterday's "disgraceful" 5-0 drubbing at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers's Liverpool side inflicted a worst ever Premier League defeat on the Swans, who lost by five goals or more for the first time since 2002.

Michael Laudrup's side were lucky that Vorm was in reasonable form, for the Dutchman had to make a number of second-half saves to stop the thrashing from becoming even more severe.

"We owe the fans an apology because they travel all this way and we play like this — it's a disgrace," said Vorm.

"We knew Liverpool had played two games already this week and we needed to be 100 per cent sharp.

"We didn't start well and of course they are a good side but we made them look even better.

"Normally we can keep the ball but we didn't do it, we didn't do our jobs and we were all over the place.

"It was lucky it was just 1-0 at half-time. But then they scored straightaway in the second half and, when they scored three and four, I was worried it could be seven or eight."

With next Sunday's Capital One Cup final against Bradford in mind, Laudrup made seven changes from the side that beat Queens Park Rangers the previous weekend.

And although the sweeping alterations backfired in a spectacular manner, Vorm refused to make excuses.

"Even though we made some changes, the way you start a game is important and we didn't start well," he said.

"Everybody knows we have quality in the team and what we are capable of but it looked like we were playing together for the first time. It was so not like Swansea. I hope it's just this once because we have a final coming up and it does not help your preparation to have a game like this."

“Our players need to apologies to you firstly Michael lad, your our last line in defence and you was left out on a limb. "Thank You" for keeping the goal tally lower than it could have been. Really appreciate your professionalism here Michael. Your honesty is inspirational too.”
