Michael Laudrup: I've tried Barcelona V Real, Juventus v Torino and Lazio v Roma and Swansea City v Cardiff is as big as it gets
MICHAEL Laudrup insists Swansea City's clash with Cardiff tomorrow will match the world's biggest derbies in terms of passion.
The Danish legend has played in some of the biggest fixtures in the world, including Real Madrid v Barcelona, Lazio against Roma and Juventus's meeting with Torino.
But he believes tomorrow's encounter means just as much to Swansea and Cardiff fans.
"I wasn't aware of the game before I came here, but yes I know what it means because a derby is a derby," said Laudrup.
"What is the biggest in the world? The one most watched? Then it is Barcelona against Real Madrid with 500 million watching.
"But for Swansea and Cardiff, this is the biggest.
"In football, you can discuss who is the best player or team, or the best derby and never agree.
"For every particular fan, their derby is most important."
Excitement has grown around Swansea in recent weeks as the day of the first derby for more than two years draws nearer.
And Laudrup stressed that he is aware of the fever pitch developing around him.
"When you walk around in the last couple of weeks, people talk about this game's importance," he added.
"Then you feel it, even if you have games before the derby, people are already talking about it.
"It's happened to me everywhere — three games before people are already thinking about it.
"That's why it's something special."
