Michael Laudrup ready for Swansea City talks, says his agent
MICHAEL Laudrup's agent says the Swansea City manager is ready to discuss a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post last week that he was keen for Laudrup to extend his current deal by 12 months.
But the Dane responded by insisting that talks about his future were not a priority and that he could not commit to another season in Wales at this stage.
Laudrup's current agreement runs until the end of next term, and he stressed that it was too early to say where he will be working after that.
But his representative, Bayram Tutumlu, has been quoted in the Danish press saying that contract discussions are on the agenda.
"Yes, Swansea has a strong interest in extending Michael Laudrup's contract," Tutumlu said.
"And in the coming days, we will meet with Swansea and discuss the possibility of an extension."
Jenkins, who is with the Swansea squad in Dubai, reckons a three-year stint with Laudrup at the helm would suit both club and manager.
But that would mean a change of direction for Laudrup, whose managerial career has featured fairly brief stints at Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Real Mallorca.
