Medals galore for county's schools
CARMARTHENSHIRE schools teams competed for Dyfed in the annual Welsh Sportshall Athletics final in Cwmbran.
Eight Welsh school districts took part and Dyfed finished second in the under-15 boys' age group and third in both the under-13 girls and under-15 girls' age groups.
This is the first time that Dyfed have not qualified for the UK final in Birmingham since sportshall athletics events were first held in Carmarthen in 1992.
Individually the team did very well, winning a total of 32 medals.

Bronze — Celyn Lazenby Dyffryn Aman long jump; Obstacle Relay Celyn Lazenby Dyffryn Aman, Jessica Thomas Bro Myrddin, Ebony Danter Dyffryn Aman and Ceri Evans.
Under-15 Girls: Gold — Lauryn Davey Dyffryn Aman long jump.
Silver — 4 x 2 lap relay Hannah Doel Tregib, Lauryn Davey Dyffryn Aman, Ffion Jenkins St Michaels and Delun Allcock Dyffryn Aman; Bethan Lewis Bro Myrddin shot putt.
Bronze — Amy Humble St John Lloyd shot putt.
Under-15 Boys: Gold — 4 x 2 laps relay Jarred Davies Strade, Talfan Allcock Dyffryn Aman, Tim Williams Queen Elizabeth and Samuel Rajesh St Michael's.
Silver — Talfan Allcock Dyffryn Aman 2 laps; Achraf Liles Dyffryn Aman and Nikita Neary Dyffryn Taf 2 man paarlauf.
Bronze — Talfan Allcock Dyffryn Aman long jump; Achraf Liles Dyffryn Aman 4 laps.
On Thursday, the 25th annual Dyfed Primary Schools Cross Country Championships will be held at the Showground in Carmarthen.
More than 1,500 competitors from 60 schools will be taking part and there will be medals awarded to the first ten in each of the eight races and also the first three teams.
The event is sponsored by McDonald's and West Wales Freemasons Provincial Council.
The first ten in the Year 5 and 6 races will be selected to compete for Dyfed in the match against West Glamorgan Primary Schools which takes place in Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo on Saturday, March 23.
That is also the venue for the schools international and home countries cross country match.
This event is only held in Wales once every four years.
