A GROWING family from Mayals has lost part of an appeal to make their house bigger.

Richard Pearl wanted to add a rear attic extension, front dormer extension and roof windows to his house on Wentworth Crescent.

A Welsh Government- appointed planning inspector upheld the appeal for the front dormer, but dismissed the rear dormer.

"I conclude that the proposed rear dormer, in view of its size, shape and scale would harm the character and appearance of the host property and surrounding area," said the inspector in his report..
